How To Crop a Head Shot Image in Paint

Crop The Photo

The image is loaded into paint.exe ready to edit
Click On
Select Tool
Position Mouse above and left of target image.
Hold and drag left mouse button to select target image
Open Right Click Menu
Crop
Image after Cropping

Save the Cropped Image

Click On
Save As
JPEG picture
Save the file according to family portrait naming convention and location.

Save to File Using a Memorable File Name

Click On
c:\gystdoit\jpg Save the file to family portrait folder
Rachel_Gaffey_103-20_baby.jpg Name the file according to family portrait naming convention

First_Last_IND-ID_description.jpg


The easiest way to open an image file in Paint is through Windows Explorer right click menu


Click On

Load the Image File to Paint via Windows Explorer

Win Key + E Open up Windows Explorer using the shortcut keys

press Windows Key and E
C:\gystdoit\jpg\ Navigate to folder with image file.

This example uses folder name C:\gystdoit\jpg\
Rachel_Gaffey_and_Virginia_Dunn.jpg Find the image filename of interest


  • Note: You may find it easier to find file if you first sort the list by filename
  • Click on Name
    (column header in Right Pane)
  • This sorts file list into alphabetical order
  • Alternatively you can sort list by date by clicking on Date column header
Right Click
on the image filename 		Our example below uses image file

Right clicking on the file name opens the context menu
where you will select the Open With option
Open With
Paint
Click On

Starting Windows Paint Application
Start Button
  • As an alternative to loading an image file through Windows Explorer
  • you can launch Paint then open the file using Paint Menu
    accessible through the Paint main menu

Click On

Load the Image File thru Paint Menu

3. Save As
Open The Paint Open option launches a Windows Explorer type navigation pane.
Navigate to image file of interest Find the the image file that contains the head shot you want.
Open button Opens the selected image file in the Windows Paint editor.
